As I see Milan beat himself in the 2nd match. 3 of 4 goal were serious defensive mistakes. With better concentration they would easily manage the 3 goal advantage. Just like 1 year later in the final. That 03-07 period was an incredible opportunity for Milan to do something legendary like RM did from 2014 to 2018. I think they left 2 CL trophy in that period.
Those days refferiying was not so strict like today… Defenders have guts to do harsh defending…3 goals in a match was rare in knockout rounds in those days …so this comeback is more valuable than Barca,Liverpool or real Madrid…
Real Madrid won against As Monaco by 4-2 but lost 2nd leg by 1-3 even after taking lead in early 20 minutes.

Deportivo Lacoruna did great comeback against AC Milan. Me and my brother, cousins were 100% sure that AC Milan or Chelsea could be the UCL 2003-04 winners.
As Monaco did great comeback against Real Madrid and against Chelsea.
