Personally, I believe itβs essential for young players to try a variety of roles in grassroots football:β
– Throw them into the chaos of midfield, where quick thinking under pressure is key.β
– Let them play out wide as a winger, creating width and taking on defenders 1v1.β
– Give them time up front as a striker, learning how to play with their back to goal and hold the ball up.β
– Drop them into defence, where they can see the whole game in front of them and develop their ability to read play.β
– And donβt forget goalkeeper β it offers a completely different view and set of challenges.β
Each position builds unique skills, techniques, and tactical understanding.
The more experiences they have, the more complete and adaptable theyβll become.β
