  1. You missed what should have been a second yellow at the start of the second half of the Seattle-Colorado match. So obvious that the ref immediately reached for his pocket…then changed his mind. Game changing decision.

  2. My favorite part of that foul/disallowed goal in COL-SEA was when Navarro starts desperately and repeatedly signaling for VAR (with the camera picking up fans joining in) despite the fact that the call was not only completely legit, but also NOT REVIEWABLE. That was a great chuckle in a match where the Sounders could have been crushed 4 or 5 to 1 if the Rapids weren't so awful at kicking the ball at the net.

  3. Muriel's was clear as day and should've been called immediately on the field but the ref didn't want to make a decision (which in itself is making a decision, he just took the cowards way to not blow the whistle and let VAR deal with it).

  4. "clearly" runs into rodriguez's foot.

Well it sure as hell isn't clear to about 90% of the watching public. I see absolutely nothing clear about that

  5. VAR needs to be faster. It took over 4 minutes in the MN/VAN game, over 3 minutes just for the people in Texas to get the on field ref to go to the monitor. That is TOO LONG. If VAR can't make a decision within 30 – 60 seconds then it isn't clear and obvious enough. I feel like this is the 2nd time I've said this for MNUFC games already this season. I'd be interested to know the average time it takes for VAR decisions too happen throughout the league. I bet they are all several minute stoppages in play. VAR needs to get resolved faster.

  6. On the restart red: this is why you stay clean during the match. 99% of the time the restart delay yellow is just that. BUT because he had one already, oh well. Red completely justified.

  7. His foot was under Yeimars leg preventing him from straightening it to land. This forced Yeimar to land on one foot which he wasn't prepared for. I agree with the call.

  8. Andrew aside from going soft on that 2nd yellow for delaying the restart/throw-in I mention in my other comment, I think you're spot on this week. Nice job.

  9. Yellow for delaying the restart on that throw-in I'm absolutely fine with. This BS about 'managing the game' with a talking to has to stop. It's why players do this stuff. It's like telling a 3 year old to stop hitting their brother, threatening them with a time-out, and then never giving that time-out. At some point, you lose control of the child in general and that's where we are overall. Players were warned before the start of the season that the league and referees had enough of their crap and they would be punished. Don't be soft here, Andrew. The time for a teaching moment is long gone.

  10. Handballs can be a tough call. Does he move his arm/hand? Yes. But the ball appears to be going towards his face and it's just reflex to block with your hand. The MLS, and all leagues really, need to be a better job with offside camera angles. How hard can it be to put a stationary digital camera every 10 yards? The cameras are not that expensive.

  11. Would have liked to see a straight red on yoshida for that kick to the stomach on Fory off the corner kick in the 90th minute, if not a red at least a second yellow.

  12. I’m not a Toronto or NYCFC fan, but that’s a pk for me. Martinez is pretty clearly shielding the ball and going to shift it to his left foot with that extended right leg that then gets taken out from under him. Thompson is just running yes, but I don’t feel like that matters. He’s gotta be careful running that close to a player in the box. It’s incidental, but he trips Martinez. It’s unlucky, but seems like a very clear pk to me

  13. Why was the Alfredo Morales second yellow in the introduction, but it wasn't an actual segment? Would have been interested to hear Andrew Wiebe's thoughts.

  14. Wiebe: Does it affect your opinion on Hidalgo's second yellow if you read the section about Delaying the Restart in Law 12: "Referees must caution players who delay the restart of play by: appearing to take a throw-in but suddenly leaving it to a team-mate to take"? Given that DR has been a point of emphasis this year, is it a good look to "manage it" at the end of a game when the player clearly appears to know what he's doing? In the 20th minute? Yeah, tell him to get on with it and that he shouldn't invite a silly card, but everything is elevated six minutes into stoppage time and Hidalgo's cheating the game.
