Having coached women’s football I can categorically confirm that they do NOT want to compete with men. It’s a sport in its own right. If that worries any men then they are the ones with the problem of a fragile ego.
One of the factors you often overlook is that, while men might be stronger and faster, they've also have far more athletes competing for fewer spots at the top levels, so someone that makes it onto a professional team is going to be that much better than a group of players that's drawing from a smaller pool. Then you factor in training, support, and level of competition?
While I'm sure men have some physical advantages over women you see this kind of disparity in sports were men play men. The team with more money and thus can get better equipment, more training, pay for the better players do better than the team with less often do better. Teams from countries with long histories playing the sport do better than teams from countries that don't. Like when Australia beat American Samoa 31-0 in 2001 do we think it was strictly because the Australians had a physical advantage?
In terms of viewership, they clearly have an advantage, just based on this clip. So it’s interesting that they still don’t compete. But it’s ironic because that advantage is dependent on men.
